In FY23, 555 Super Foods enlisted Carbon Friendly to evaluate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions and enhancements in carbon removal associated with fruit production in FY21, compared to a baseline year of FY19. The assessment utilized a comprehensive "cradle-to-farm gate" system boundary, relying on primary data from farm inputs and outputs throughout the production cycle. 555 Super Foods is committed to enhancing environmental outcomes within their orchard and surrounding ecosystem, focusing on reducing their carbon footprint and increasing soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration. In FY21, the emissions intensity at 555 Super Foods decreased by 50% compared to the FY19 baseline. Significant reductions in emissions were achieved through decreased use of fertilizers, electricity, and chemicals, alongside improvements in SOC which resulted in the removal of 2,112 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per tonne of fruit produced. This assessment verifies that the production system at 555 Super Foods operates at carbon net-zero status, meeting the GHG emission reduction and removal criteria outlined in Carbon Friendly Standard V1.4.
